Nicole, Sabine and Nadine are three best friends in their 50s from West Flanders. Every Wednesday evening - when their husbands are out playing tennis - they meet up for some bubbles and gossip. But not too loud, because well.... shhh, the neighbours.

West Flemish improv

Stijn Defoirdt, Katrijn Devlaminck and Bram Vuylsteker studied journalism together at Arteveldehogeschool in Ghent. The three quickly got along well because of their common West Flemish roots: Stijn is from Torhout, Katrijn from Tielt and Bram from Wervik. Even though they are not from the same region, they share their fondness for middle-aged West Flemish women. Every time they see each other, they spontaneously start cackling in West Flemish. "You guys should really make a podcast out of that sometime!" shouted someone suddenly during one of their impromptu improv skits.

Three mics and several Proseccos later, this is the first season of shht the neighbours, an improv podcast about Nicole, Sabine and Nadine. The West Flemish middle-aged besties got to know each other years ago at the parents' council of elementary school. Since then, they meet every Wednesday night for some bubbles and a chat while their husbands are out playing tennis. And then, of course, all sorts of intrigue comes to light.

Nicole

Nicole Pattyn (53) is small business owner of Plus Size Women's Clothing Boutique Nicole. So she is self-employed and makes sure to mention that frequently. Besides working day and night, she also likes to drink a Picon Vin Blanc. The apple of her eye is her daughter Charlotte, pronounced Sarlotje. She is currently still married to Dirk, but not for long....

Sabine

Sabine Desmedt (52) is an administrative clerk in the Civil Affairs Department at City Hall. Even though she has a lot of days off, she is on the verge of a burnout. She is married to Johan, but he's pretty useless. She likes to act crazy sometimes, suddenly painting the main wall in the living room a quirky colour without notice. Sabine has two children: Ruben and Jasper, both of whom have never had a lover....

Nadine

Nadine Ver Helst (54) handles the bookkeeping in the business of her husband, contractor Philippe Ver Helst. Belgium is actually too cold and wet for Nadine. And so she goes to Tenerife with Philippe several times a year. This results in a crispy tan and some nicely defined white tan lines. She is plus-mom to Mathieu and Eline and gets along well with her Spanish evening teacher Ricardo....
